Hueber Menschen A1 - Vocab

It is worth noting… very few of these books ever teach English translations directly. I have 3 of them without a single English word in them!

Hallo Hans,
little off topic:
most Mechatroniker in Germany are Kraftfahrzeug- Mechatroniker.
Before 2003 there were KFZ-Mechaniker and KFZ-Elektriker. Now they call it Mechatroniker: Elektrik + Mechanik is Mechatronik. This is a new profession. You have to learn it for three and a half years in the Autowerkstatt or something else.

But there are many other Mechatroniker as well. I don’t know about Vakuumröhre-technicians:roll_eyes:. But Germans have Mechatroniker für Kältetechnik and Mechatroniker für Medizingeräte and many other Mechatroniker.

Happy weekend

Thatnks @redux2! Yes, it sounds very much like an “Instrumentation Technician” in the US and/or an equipment (heavy - crane, construction, etc) operator. It is what we call in the US a skilled trade, vocational training, or a career one would go through an apprenticeship to obtain - basically, hands on or applied sciences (Hochschule) as opposed to theoretical sciences (Universität).

One might say a Mechatroniker would be one of many different Journeyman or Skilled Trades careers one can study/perform a Prakticum before entering into a career as such. In the US, an Electrician, Plumber, Equipment Operator, etc., would be similar such fields/careers.

What is the rationale behind completely deleting the old one? I would find that immensely frustrating because I’ve completed the old one and find “reviewing” very useful. I don’t want to have to go through the “learning” stage again.

Would it be possible to leave the old one up but direct new users to the new one somehow?

I don’t know a good answer for you other than…

  1. one could ignore all of the lessons in the improved course, one can select which lessons one does. - this is from accessing the course from the web, not apps.
  2. the number of errors (prior to me cleaning some up) is/should be a source of frustration to learners.
  3. there is no support for the course as the creator is inactive

I’ve added comments/links to the ‘new’ course to stop others from starting it, but not sure how effective that is.

I was 60% through it myself and generally of the thinking I’ll find all but a very few of the words elsewhere. And could review the lesson vocabulary lists if really needed at a later date.

Please leave both up. Put in the description of the old one that there is a new improved course and include a link. You can easily direct people to the new one. You could even change the name of the old course to “Menschen A1 ARCHIVED” or something.

Would really appreciate it. Thanks!

I have done as you requested @adamjcollins

There is a Status option to “unlist[ed]” the course, which I have done. This should remove it from Public [courses] search results, however current/past users should still be able to access it. If it disappears from your list please notify. It is showing in mine active courses list currently after updating the course description.

Cheers
