HSK Course Sequence

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if someone could point me in the direction of the proper HSK sequence. I see on Ben’s courses he says HSK 2 repeats words from HSK 1… Also, is there a point in taking both the red and blue courses, if I follow his?

Thank you.

Hi,
I will tell you my experience. I started doing the "500 most common characters’ and the “1000 most common words” couses. My reasoning was that we should learn first what we will see first.
Actually, since most of the materials for beginners is based on HSK, I ended up memorizing many words that I never saw being used, and was exposed to some words about which I had no clue. I noticed they were in HSK lists, so I started doing the HSK 3 words course.
In this course, I set most of its words to “Ignore” and learned the ones I was missing.
Now I am doing the HSK 4 courses. The HSK 3 words are here again. I think that you can go directly to HSK 4.
I am doing both the green and blue courses. First, I learn the meaning and pronounciation of the words at the blue course. Some time later, I advance on the red course, in order to choose the characters when given their meaning. Of couse, I set many entries to Ignore when I know them really well (sometimes I ignore the meaning, others the sound, others the characters, some of them all three entries).
I suggest you start doing the same. If you think one of the courses is not so useful, just quit it and proceed on only one of them.
Good learning!
