How to score an exact number of points?

How is it possible for someone to consistently score a round number of points for a course, eg 180,000 for a week or 520,000, 310,000 and 2,270,000 for an entire course ?

@albo2albo ~ hope all is well with you. I wondered this myself after seeing it occur several times in the past, sometimes with the same username. So, bored as I was one day, I tried to replicate it. I could only think of a few ways:

  1. It could naturally occur through a freak of learning/reviewing events (rare, but it could happen).

  2. It happens when learning/reviewing brings one very close to a whole number, then one fudges the number by doing some “extra” reviewing (which gives you 1 point on the website, not sure what it is on either of the apps). I did this in my boring test, and got my score to a nice even number. (But then because of the sensitivity about point farmers, I quickly learned a few new words so that a round figure would not appear under my name ~ it would not look right to some, and I felt guilty about the fudging of the few extra points to get to the whole number in the first place).

  3. A script or other mechanism is being used to generate points artificially.

There might be other ways, but I am not that bored to look for them. I can find other ways to spend my time (like actually learning something) Maybe others could suggest other ways.

How could someone “consistently” (your term) do this ? Unless there are more than 3 ways, then I think it is pretty obvious. But we’ve all been down that discussion road in this forum. It doesn’t really lead anywhere. Consistency in learning is generally a good thing, as long as it is positive. If it’s not, then what’s the value in consistency ? My two cents…

my two cents are that that point farmer needs to improve her/his scripting abilities - unless s/he strongly believes such obvious, round numbers are very funny.
