How to restart the timer

Just a tip, which of course people can use for cheating but if you’re cheating on Memrise I’ve no idea what you’re hoping to achieve: if you’ve walked/tabbed away from the screen for a while to do something else and forgotten to pause, and come back with only seconds to spare and are having trouble remembering the answer, just type in the exact text of the clue itself and it will warn you that you typed the wrong thing and restart the timer.

Better to just disable it with a script. There are plenty of courses I created where the timer should be either non-existent or offer longer times. I just give my students a link to the tamper monkey or grease monkey scripts instead.

Interesting. I’ve ran into this when I typed other things that matched a column but wasn’t the answer the system was looking for (like the pinyin for Chinese, instead of the characters), but it’s interesting to know that you can just type the exact text, too.

Thanks for sharing
