How to learn quicker Spanish?

Hi all,

Since yesterday I started using Memrise to learn the following two courses:

For the last year I have been practising Spanish with duolingo and rosetta stone so I already know something about the Spanish language. This is why I notice that the beginning of A1 Spanish is very easy for me, only rarely there is a new (important) word that I can add to my vocabulary.

Is there any way to do a quick test like on duolingo so I can do the levels I am not good at? Because now I have to put hours of work in it before it will be a challenge for me. Does the premium version gives you an option to memorise words quicker?

Thank you all!

Kind regards,

Robin

how could Memrise can give you an option, so that you can memorise items faster? you should just try higher level courses, probably…

Thanks. Maybe I was not clear but I mean it could do a review to test what you know so you can start at a higher level.

Since the German and French courses are split up and renewed lately, maybe that’s the case with Spanish too. Instead one, there are seven courses so you can jump in at different levels.

Robin, when viewing the course, you can click on higher levels and see the words that are in each level. I’m also pretty sure you can select those higher levels and click “learn these words” (on the website…probably on the app) and essentially skip ahead.

Hi @Robin24,

Yes, what you’re suggesting would be a completely new feature on Memrise. Maybe one of the Admins/Moderators will give it some thought but I doubt it could happen anytime soon.

In the meantime, we can only identify and pick suitable courses (for whatever level we are at) by trawling through the Course List and then it’s a case of ‘trial and error’.

I am still in the early stages of learning Spanish but I have the following more advanced course lodged on my dashboard to tackle at some future date when I become more confident. Is it more ‘up your street’ right now? If not, there will be other more advanced courses in the list. Good luck!

Yes, you can. It´s a useful way to avoid ´learning´ items you already know. An alternative is to use the “ignore” function.

From what I remember, if you learn all of Duolingo Spanish, you can pass an A2 test; This is what forum posters on Duolingo’s website told me 2 or 3 years ago. Thus, I doubt Memrise’s official courses will help you much. If you insist to continue using Memrise’s official courses, then I believe you should probably try starting at A2 Spanish instead of A1 Spanish.

The alternative is to use the ignore function when a familiar card is presented to be learned.

Thanks, that makes sense!

This course actually looks very good since I think it is best to learn phrases instead of just words! Thank you!

@Robin24 I have completed the Duolingo Spanish. Go use the Spanish 1-7.
