Hello everyone,
Is it possible to duplicate a level without duplicating attributes? I would like to create a course with 3 columns (A, B, C), and an attribute column. In the first level the learner will be tested on column B, in the second one (the duplicated level) he will be tested on column C. The attribute column in level 1 is different from the attribute column in level 2, but I don’t know how to set this, it is systematically duplicated, even if I change the content.
If I understand correctly, you want to use the same items in different levels, but with different information displayed in the attribute column?
I don’t think there’s any way to do that with a direct copy, since the items are taken from the database, and therefore use the same information, regardless of what level they’re in. What I would do in this case is create a second database, and use one for level set A and the other for level set B. Though it is some extra busywork, they could have the same items entered in, if desired, with different information in some of the columns. I use a similar method with my courses, since I want the accepted alts to vary between levels.
Alternatively, you could perhaps add a second attribute column to the one database, though again, since the information and options are on the database’s end, rather than the levels’, you would need to have both columns display in both sets of levels. Something like this:
Thank you very much!
I will try this.
Do you know if it is possible to update systematically a duplicated level, so that the new items from the “source level” are systematically copied in the “duplicate”?
As far as I know, there isn’t a way to make it so that when level A has new items added to it, level B automatically does too, so you’d need to do that manually. To avoid that extra work, I tend to work in the database screen when adding items, then use the “Create Levels” button there when the content for the levels is ready and I’m unlikely to add any additional items to those levels later.
As far as changes to individual items though (tweaking the text in a definition, attribute, etc.), if the two levels share a database, then any changes in either level or the database itself should automatically be reflected in the other level(s). If they use different databases though, you’ll need to keep any changes that you make synced up manually.
