How to disable pronunciation lessons?

I typically use Memrise on my iOS phone on the way to work, on public transit. On public transit, it’s quite loud, and I’m unable to use pronunciation mode. I want to “turn off” this feature. It’s a pain in the butt to click skip or to just record unlistenable noise to waste time making the “lesson” end, so I can get to a real lesson.

I think you don’t have to choose this mode, actually. Can’t you just go into the box where you can choose for yourself what mode you use next?

If you tap on that circle with the four dots in the bottom left-hand corner, you will then go to this screen (this is on Android):

And then you should be able to choose from the various options that appear and can over-ride whatever the app chose for you.

I’m using the Android app so this might be completely different for iPhones, but when a pronunciation test came up during review I think it always gave you a means of specifying that you “can’t speak”.

Speaking of which, I haven’t seen any pronunciation test during a review in a long time (unless i explicitly start a session), that’s rather odd. I’ve checked both the settings on the web and in the app, but there doesn’t seem to be a specific setting for this.

This is exactly what I was looking/hoping for. There doesn’t seem to be this option on the iOS app. Or maybe there is, and I just can’t find it?

If there is, then we both couldn’t find it.

I’m aware that I can do this, but I like the app suggestions of rotating it. I don’t want to have to manually go to this menu each time. I’m looking for a solution that seemingly exists for the Android app. Most learning apps have a “I can’t speak now” feature (e.g. Duolingo), and I’m not sure if or why this doesn’t exist for Memrise iOS.
