Greetings all. Is there a way to delete more than just one entry at a time in either a user-created database or in a level within a course ? Currently, the only way I know how to delete an item is to select it (one at a time) and click on the red “x” and delete it. This is tedious if there are many to delete, but is there a better way for mass deletions ?
(This question is based on the assumption that a course creator doesn’t want to totally delete either the entire database, or full course level - which is easy - but rather just wants to delete a bunch of entries within the database or course level). Thank you.
Mass deleting entries in the database I don’t know. Levels: create a new level where you upload the items you want to keep, confirm that the items are identical, for example by ignoring the items in the new level and checking that the same items get ignored in the original level, and then delete the original level.
Be aware that deleting a level does not actually remove anything from the database. “Hidden” database entries - ones that aren’t on any level and thus not learnable in the course - still show up as answers in multiple choice questions. Sometimes you don’t mind that, and deleting a level is good enough; sometimes you really do want to delete things from the database.
I’m disappointed that this still seems to be the case a year later. I just created my first course and bulk delete was one of the first things I wanted to do because I made so many mistakes.
Memrise has no function for that as far as I can see.
Best alternative is to copy the database entries you are working on and paste it into an excel format folder. Perhaps you can find an easier way to delete in that format. Delete the old database or it’s sentences and bulk add the edited version in again.
Yes, memrise should be able to create an option like we see on the learners vocab list where we can choose a number of items to ignore and then ignore them all at once. So in this case choose all our unwanted sentences and delete them in one gulp.
