I study spanish and I do it about 2 to 3 hrs aday, but I like to space it out, so I do it in chunks throughout the day, about 30min each time then at evenings I do the conjugations, also I like the league tables on the courses and I alwais aim to be in the top 10, how often do you study and how is your learning style?
For a while, I was learning Japanese at about the same pace - then I discovered that it wasn’t sustainable with university studies happening at the same time, eventually leading to a learning burn-out (overdose) ^^'
Nowadays, the focus is to stay up-to-date on the courses I have learned, and add 5-10 new words a day! It is a lot slower than I would like, but I find this rhythm has let me re-incorporate Memrise (and Japanese) into my busy days (and nigths)!
As for the learning itself, I have discovered that I really only understand most conjugation and grammar in context, on-the-field, so I focus on vocabulary and (of course) writing and memorizing kanji.
Tldr: Slow and steady prep work on my own, then jump into a real-life situation and put it into practice! That’s my style
i do about 2 hours a day and space it out all throughout the day too
But what matters the most is that you maintain such a schedule for years on end
I mostly use Memrise when I am procrastinating about doing something else.
When I do not work, I learn the whole day.
I work two day shifts, than two day off. I practice in the bus on the way home, 20 min; today it’s my free day, as I don’t have plans, I’ll do a line of reading newspapers, a line of TV, a line of reading books, a line of practicing. Probably the whole day. Thanks to the gray weather. But usually the practice goes up to 3-4 hours. And I don’t get bored.
My style?
I just shove everything into my brain, and I believe that it will process everything and eventually I will sort of speak the language. And it’s working.
