How many words or levels may I add to a self-created course?

I create my own courses based on the books from which I study. I usually create courses with 1400 words using multiple levels. But then it tends to become slower.

Then, I create a new course and upload my vocab to that one. But I wonder if do you experience the same. How many words do you put into one course or one level?
Can I add more then 2000 words? Will it still work or will it broke down?

Thanks,
G

you can put 2,000 words in one level and it will still work
howsoever I don’t put that many words in a database . I usually go 100 words per database.
And i have seen courses with 10,000+ (total) words in them

I have myself several courses with more than 3k words and it works like a charm, don’t worry. However, I always make sure to create many levels, otherwise it becomes too fastidious to add new words.

I just recently finished building a course with nearly 9,000 items (about 3,000 items each for two databases, with one set copied for a different testing direction), and I haven’t run into any limits. I usually use levels with 15 items each, and that comes to 640 levels for that course.

One thing to watch out for however is when you’re using the “Create Levels” button in the database editor. It seems that once your database reaches a certain number of items, it starts to become increasingly unreliable in actually compiling everything into levels, and will often just stop partway through. When building my recent course, I tried using the button when I had 2,155 items, and I was able to get it to work after a few tries, but it’s rather tedious to delete all of the levels each time it fails, so I had to build each level individually past that point.
