How does Memrise's spaced repetition compare to Anki and Lingvist?

I want to know which app uses the most efficient spaced repetition algorithm.

  • Anki is based on the SM2 algorithm
  • Memrise says its algorithm is backed by research [with references and specific scientists’ names].
  • Lingvist says they “harness the potential of computational science” and is “powered by science”.

I find Memrise to be most believable- Anki’s algorithm doesn’t seem to have changed.

Has anyone used Lingvist (or Anki) as well as memrise and can compare which one is more efficient?

Memrise’s algorithm was very efficient for me originally but some of the recent changes make me feel off. The app has been a no-go for me because of it’s differences. I’ve been asking mods for their input on new changes but no feedback yet.
I’ve also looked into Anki and from what I see you can tweak their algorithm to your needs which makes it interesting to me once one makes the switch and gets decks set up. The biggest benefit for memrise was its user-created courses and a user-friendly learning environment, also which has gone through some changes. Currently doing some looking into Anki but haven’t tried out Lingvist yet.

Do you have a link to where they talk in specifics about their SRS algorithm, and give verifiable references?

I find Memrise to be the least believable. Their one-size-fits-all algorithm ends up fitting no one and no item. You want an algorithm that varies the review interval according to the difficulty of the item and your preferences, so Anki is the obvious choice.

Can you go deeper on how it got less efficient?
