How do I view a specific word I've learnt?

This might sound like a really stupid question with an obvious answer, but the solution is eluding me.

On the Memrise app, I can view a word I’ve already learnt by doing this:

  1. Open the course
  2. Tap the level. This brings up a list of all the words for that level.
  3. Tap the word I want to view.

How do I do it on the website? When I do step 2, I get a list of words for the level but none of them are clickable.

The only way I can work around this is by clicking Options > Preview and then cycling through the entire level until I find the one I want. There isn’t even a back button on this mode, so if I want to view the word again after viewing a later one, I have to start from the beginning.

Surely there is a way to directly view a specific word?

Thanks for any help.

Here’s a weird but quick work-around: Instead of cycling through the entire level, from the level page do Ignore All, and then un-ignore the particular word you want to examine. At that point, using preview or review will give you the one word you want. When you are done, re-set to Ignore None for that level.

sorry, messag deleted as it will not really help as it takes you only to the preview

Has this been answered for you?

Hi, sorry for taking ages to reply. I took a break from Memrise and am back now.

Unfortunately, no the question wasn’t answered. All I have are two workarounds - the one I described and the one suggested by lurajane. Neither of them are very practical as it takes a lot of effort just to view a specific word.

If you know of a way to view a word on Memrise through the website then I’d love to hear it. This seems like such a basic function that I’m surprised it doesn’t seem to exist.

Hi @davidecl175,

There are only workarounds as far as I know.

In addition to the ones already mentioned here, if you look at post numbers 14 (Sep 16) and 19 (Jun 25) in this other thread: Locate Specific Reviewed Word, you will find a way to identify the course(s) and level(s) that a word appears in. But you would still need to either scroll through the level using “Preview” or follow lurajane’s alternative to reach the word. :slightly_frowning_face:

The Memrise team told us some time ago that they don’t have any plans to add enhancements to the web version any time soon. :disappointed:
