How do I type out kanji? Course refuses correct answers without it

The course I’m working through, Japanese 1, starting giving me words with kanji.

(Even though the course never covered them to begin with.)

And now when I type out words with kanji in them, they’re always marked wrong. Even when the spelling is correct, even when I consult a textbook to make sure I’m typing in the correct letters. Otherwise the only way I can get past the question is by copy+pasting the displayed kanji into the answer field.

My course is clogged with kanji now because it thinks I keep getting them ‘wrong.’

There are 2 different Memrise Japanese 1. One is an old course not anymore supported, One is a new course, so listing the current course you are taking would be helpful.

It’s just called ‘Japanese 1’ that’s it. The icon is what I think is a picture of flowers with a pink/salmon-ish photoshop filter over them.

Plenty of “1’s” in the course list, but there’s no other course I can find called ‘Japanese 1’

@GabrieleCramer-Knebe, he’s currently taking this one:

@Quantumshard, here’s the other course. I’m not sure which one is better. One is supposed to be for speakers of British English and the other for speakers of American English.

Anyway, as to your original question, there’s are some threads here and here about that. Basically, you need to install a Japanese IME, so you could also Google for “Windows install Japanese IME” and probably get some good results, too

@neoncube The second one is an old and no longer updated version of the first one.

Good to know, thanks.
