I just created one test word. I am trying to disable this.
This is my own course.
Hi there, I know this keyboard is created in the course set up himself.
So if itâs your course ⌠you go to edit course. then on open the lines of your level and make an edit column. a window open , tap testing the key board is thereâŚ
keep in mind that people who do not have yet installed an appropriate keyboard can not type in the learning language. I do not see any parameter in your personal profile to stop or remove that.
Hope this helps !
cheers
it is about this: Memrise Release Notes - 28 Nov 2017 (Update on changes to typing test)
it is not an onscreen keyboard (that is a different things), but is about âhelping the learner to (not-)learnâ
somewhere there in that thread (I wonder why the team considered necessary to close that thread???) is a coding line that one can add in ublock or similar, for blocking the stupid âhintsâ
Please can you send me a screen shot of what you mean. I really donât understandâŚ
This post by matteogiuseppe may help get around the problem, if you have uBlock or AdBlock.
Also, on my own test course, when I go to âEdit Courseâ there is no longer an option to enable/disable showing of the on-screen keyboard, which used to be there, if I remember correctly, and I canât find it in my learning options either.
Thanks @Hydroptere, youâre right, itâs still there for me too. I just wasnât looking in the right placeâŚ
Sorry I think you it below right ? Cheers !
On that screenshot you referred to, If you leave
the âKeyboard charactersâ field blank it defaults to an onscreen keyboard. So in the âKeyboard charactersâ field I just typed in some arbitrary letter like âââ and only that letter shows up in the onscreen keyboard. Which solves the problem.
@DW7 - can we make this suggestion from @yun6798 a solution? Thank you!
Some people have been looking for that forever.
Hi @John_Baite firstly thanks you for all your âlikesâ, however I do not work for MemRise so canât implement this solution globally.
Creators can however set it up for any courses they have created.
If this is the case, try and get in touch with the creator via the â[Course Forum]â for the appropriate course/s.
Well this is the solution (see below) I got from someone else on here. But yeah pity thereâs not just an option in memrisesâ settings to turn it off/on
Download uBlock
In uBlock:
Open uBlock Dashboard
Click on My Filters tab
Add entry: www.memrise.com##.clearfix.keyboard
Click Apply changes.
Itâs very kind of you to ask me, but I am just a regular memrise user And I wouldnât even know HOW to make anything into a wiki, either, LOL.
But, please, go ahead! I am able to just ignore the line of letters on the web version, less so on my phone. But I rarely use memrise on my phone, anyway, so itâs not really an issue for me.
OK, Iâll try to find another regular or leader
Good luck!
It also works easily with AdBlockPlus. Just click âBlock Elementâ and select the keyboard with the mouse.
