Help with iOS app - homescreen

Hi

I’m having trouble navigating the iOS app, I don’t find it very intuitive and keep clicking things I don’t intend to.

The main thing I’m struggling with is when I’m finished what I’m doing and want to switch to something else - I don’t like the course selection drop down - everytime I touch it the app asks me to set a reminder - NO THANKS!!

Is there a landing page for the app or somewhere I can see a summary of all the courses on one page or is there just the drop down where you can see the courses?

A homepage within the app would improve its usability hugely for me

Any help or tips would be appreciated!

There was one and it was very user friendly. On my iPad I could see 10 (?) or so courses all in one go and whether I had completed my daily goal for each. All visible in one glance.

For some reason they decided to replace it with a sparse depiction of outer space, with lessons as planets, and a fiddly drop down menu for the courses.

The new UI is objectively bad. I don’t just mean that I don’t like it. I mean that if you measure the user effort to conduct basic tasks, and multiply be how often those tasks are performed, then you arrive at a much high number with the new design (for the part that has changed). The designer at Memrise probably needs to read up on Jakob Nielsen, though they could be having bad design decisions forced on them by management.

Ok thanks for your reply, at least I’m not missing something.

I was just sure I was missing something as I don’t normally struggle to use apps. I’m indifferent about the rockets but I would really like a homepage that you can reach with one tap from any screen.

Same here.

They have left the old lessons screen in place, but not the old courses screen.

If you tap the header (when on the planets screen) it should take you through to the old lessons screen. I always do this, if I want to access the lessons or review their content, instead of using the planets screen.

I just wish there was some way to get to the old courses screen. It was so much better.
