Grammar

Hey guys. Which one is correct based on grammar?
The place that I used to go is…
The place that I used to go was…

First of all, you need to add another “to” after “go”.
If you’re referring to “is” and “was”, both are correct. You pick one of these depending on the situation.

  1. If the topic of the place you used to go to is still present, you use “is”. Example: The place that I used to go to is big.
  2. If the topic is no longer present or you’re not sure what has happened to it, you use “was”. Like let’s say the place has gotten smaller over the years, you say: The place I used to go to was big.

Thanks a lot. It helped. You explained it very well, you must be a teacher. :slightly_smiling_face:
Then can I ask another question?
Which of these two is correct?
Change the rout to areas where they live.
Change the rout to where they live

You also must be a good student, seeing as how both of these are also kind of right. Though it written as “route”, “rout” has another meaning.

This is correct, but could be better if you were more specific.

This is better because it is more specific. Though it would sound better if it was “Change the route to the areas where they live”.

Again, both are good (I presume). These pointers are just additional help.
Happy learning!
