Grammar sections show up as not done even after completing on mobile

Slightly irritating bug - grammar lessons show up as not completed and therefore unlearnt words on the desktop, even after completing them on the mobile app. This means that sometimes when on otherwise completed courses, the course will suggest the next action being “Learn new words”, but clicking on this returns an error (as there are no more ‘words’ to learn, just grammar lessons which show up as incomplete).
Please give me the dopamine boost of seeing the completion bar on desktop showing up as full :)))))))

This is a know problem. You can read more about resp. comment on this here:

as far as i can tell this is a slightly different issue, as the missing words on web can be clearly identified as the words from grammar lessons (which are exclusive to mobile). On mobile the course shows up as completed, but on web it shows up as not completed.

Hi @Lyklar,

Thanks for getting in touch. We are aware of this issue, and hope to have a fix for our web users soon.

As you mentioned, due to the inconsistency in the number of items between app and web, Learn New Words displays an error when a course with grammar is otherwise complete. In the meanwhile, you will just need to ignore the Grammar levels to fix this (simply click on a Grammar level on web and then select ‘Ignore this level’).

We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience while we work on a fix for this.

I hope this helps.

Best wishes,
Memrise team.

7 months later, is there any update? I’ve finished Memrise’s Italian 2 course, but it does not indicate that I’ve completed the course but rather that I still need to learn 6 new words.

Hi there, due to the work being done on Beta and our new learning sessions (such as Speed Review), the web team haven’t been able to resolve this issue yet. You can follow the progress on Known Web Bugs.

As mentioned, in the meanwhile, you will just need to ignore the Grammar levels to show the course as complete (simply click on a Grammar level on web and then select ‘Ignore this level’). Please let us know if you have any issues doing this.

Kind regards,
Memrise team

Hello!

Whenever I try to click “Learn new words” on the Japanese 1 course from Memrise, I get the error “Whoops. 400 (BAD_REQUEST) error calling web API /learning_sessions/learn/?course_id=2022732”. And this keeps happening all the time, not letting me continue with new lessons. I’m using a Windows 10 computer on Mozilla Firefox, but this happens on Chrome too.

I hope you can find a solution to this, thank you!

Hi @rubikmaster5581,

As mentioned above, due to the inconsistency in the number of items between app and web, Learn New Words displays an error when a course with grammar is otherwise complete. Hi, I am facing same issue in Japanese course, cannot learn new words

Hi - When I try to learn new words, I get an error message that there are no more new words to learn But I have at least 20 left from the total

Hi @MrsStackLady, I’ve moved your post here as this is a known bug to do with grammar levels. You can read more and instructions on how work around this in the meantime here: https://memrise.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360015974758-Why-am-I-getting-an-error-when-trying-to-learn-new-words-

I am unable to learn new word as it says could not load session

Hi @bluspiigen56, if this is on Japanese 0, you needed to have ignored the grammar levels. We’ve now done this from our end, so you can move on to Japanese 1 :slightly_smiling_face:

Please help me to fix this problem! I cannot “learn new words” even though the course has not finished yet. Thank you

Hi @Dinhcanspeak, I’ve corrected the blank in level 26 of this course. Can you test it again now please?

Thank you for your supports!

Unfortunately, this problem has shown up again. Please help me to fix it!

The Japanese course 2 (no script)

Nvm thx for helping memrise.

Hi @Dinhcanspeak, apologies for the slow response. I can see you’ve now completed all of Japanese 2 (no script) so it looks like you were able to ignore the levels on web :slightly_smiling_face: If you keep facing issues, let us know!
