German Memrise version - spelling mistake

Hello team,

when using the German version of Memrise, it says “Bereit zum lernen” when the levels ready to learn are shown in a course. It must be “Bereit zum Lernen”, however, since “lernen” is a verb used like a noun… Please correct it if possible - after all, Memrise is about learning… Thanks!

Yours,
Sarinda

What if it would be “zu” instead of “zum”?

“Bereit zu lernen” implies “(I am) ready to learn” while “Bereit zum Lernen” rather means “(Level/words) ready to be learned” (without being a passive construction). I am not sure if the difference doesn’t get somewhat lost being translated to English. German native speaker trying to explain her own language without too much grammar clue of it, sorry… O:)

I thought maybe that “m” accidentally got trapped there. :grinning:
I don’t remember that construction. I have finished A1 and then continued the fourth and doing the fifth. Although, I am ignoring the words and phrases that I am familiar with.

zu is a preposition asking Dative, therefore zum Lernen; (zum = zu + dem; dem is dative of der and das)

I know, that’s why I was asking. Someone who doesn’t speak German and just doing the typing, it’s easy to mistype.
Though, I misread her. I thought she was referring to the Memrise German course.
It’s no big deal. We have a proverb in Serbian : Who works, makes mistakes. (Who doesn’t, doesn’t)
