German learning and course structure change

I’m about halfway through the A1 German course. I was hoping to start A2 after finishing this course but noticed course structure has changed to 7 courses.

Is it recommended to start the A2 course by following old link or start with new courses?
If new courses are better, which course corresponds to the start of A2 level?

You can always ignore words that you are familiar with.
There is a discussion containing a link to the A2:

Here are links to the A1 and A2 German courses which were recently removed from the Course list and replaced by “German 1”, “German 2”, etc: For background, there was wider discussion about the replacement of the A1 and A2 courses here: A1/A2 French, German and Spanish courses converted to A1=1,2,3 / A2=4,5,6,7

Did they actually change the content of the courses? Or did they just rearrange it? Why did they rearrange it?

I think they have added and took from it as well. I was checking it superficially, I’ll admit.
The reason for cutting in pieces is that people with different levels of German knowlage could hop in.
