German course teaches word in alphabetical order (!)

Hi all,

I am following this german course: https://www.memrise.com/course/920/5000-german-words-top-87/

The big problem is that it teaches words in alphabetical order! I have learnt about 500 words and there are no words starting with u, v, z etc. I first did the A, then the B, etc.

This is pretty limiting! Isn’t there a way to “randomize” the words that appear? Or even better to display them in order of relevance instead of alphabetically?

Thanks!

Thank you, that is what I was looking for

Is there any way to “transfer” the words I have learned to the new one? Otherwise I may need to re-do those 500 words

Use the ignore function or with the auto grow script.

When you review the words, the order they appear will become more and more random with time. After a while, you will see words beginning with all sorts of letters appearing together.

I wouldn’t worry about it too much, to be honest.

The course he chose also doesn’t have audio.

Well I have already learnt 500 words, and I haven’t met any starting with U. I don’t want to wait until I have learnt 2000 words to learn what “überraschung” means!

I hardly ever do courses that don’t have audio, so this one would be a complete no-no for me.
That is what I love about these platforms: that you not only SEE the word, but you HEAR them, too. If I just have the word to look at, then I might as well just use a paper and pen.

I am taking note of the ignore function, as I am doing 4+ different course and can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to do numbers!

How Do I Turn On Audio Questions

I don’t fully understand what you mean.

Do you mean for this course? Or in general?

This course does not appear to have any audio, so you won’t be able to “turn on audio questions”, even if you wanted to.

I noticed that you have created courses for German, e.g. on numbers. Did you create forums for them?

Because one of the courses that I briefly looked at today had the word “einsundachtzig” and it is actually “einundachtzig” - it is the same for all the “one-and-…ty” numbers. “Einundzwanzig”, “einunddreißig” and so on.

Ok Thx For The Tip

Your course with the numbers has no audio files, is that the problem?

You want to “turn on audio” so that your lists of numbers automatically get audio files?

ok thanks for telling me @amanda-norrsken :grinning:

If you want audio in your courses, you need to upload the audio files yourself. From forvo for example.

Ok! Thanks for helping
