German 2 Level 1 : Viel(e)

I am currently learning German and using Dutch as a reference language.
In the second German course level 1, they teach you the word viel and viele.
As far as I know the words mean the same but get used according to the use.
The problem here is, the Dutch is the same for viel and viele (Dutch: veel).
When they ask you to translate veel and you have both viel and viele that you can fill in or select, you have a fifty-fifty shot of being right.
I don’t know if it is according to the word near it being female or male or it being an adverb or not, but maybe you can adapt the Dutch translations so the use can be better understood and the word can be selected correctly :slight_smile: .

Hi,
I think using dutch as help here is not helping.
Translation from German to English is much better
much -> viel
many -> viele

Examples:
many people -> viele Leute
much luck -> viel Glück
much better -> viel besser
many colors -> viele Farben

I looked it up and the general rule is, if the noun has no plural, for ex. Geld, glück, kaffee… Then viel is used.
If the noun has a plural then the viele gets used according to the adjective conjugation.
Thanks for the translations in English, but I hope they are capable of changing it in the course itself so people who solely speak Dutch can understand. And it is kinda annoying if I would have to translate my stuff first into English and theb into German, doesn’t seem very efficient :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
