It would be fun to see
Ok, I will inform people on the other topic because they are banning people… Hope they won’t ban the wrong players who just found out about this bug and ain’t cheaters…
I’ll be furious if they ban me.
I’m a paying Pro member who subscribed through Apple, I’ve joined this forum to highlight the issue, and I’ve emailed support.
I’ve no interest in gaming the system and I’m far too old to really give a stuff about points and Leaderboards. I just hope they sort it as I know some people use it as a motivational factor, and it makes a mockery of it, if people like me are cruising to the tops of Leaderboards due to a bug in the system.
You probably won’t get banned because you can’t do anything about it, it will all get sorted out in the coming days I hope.
“Probably”!!
I’ve done sod all wrong.
It’s their system that’s clearly got problems. They should be thanking me.
My web homepage is now telling me I’ve done 24 hours 30 min and 16s learning in the past 24 hours.
Clearly the system has some major issues.
Or I’m a time traveller!
I’m experiencing the same problem and I’m relieved to see that I’m not the only one. I remember just having reached 17 million points in total yesterday, so I was quite surprised when I continued learning today and found myself already knocking on the 18 million mark after only a handful of reviewing sessions à 25 units (and surpassing the 18 mil by almost 200k just by trying to figure out the problem via a few additional sessions). My points in the weekly and monthly leaderboards also skyrocketed accordingly. I re-installed the app without avail, but I assume that the latest update, which I installed last night, has something to do with the problem.
I, too, would be mortified if I was to be banned because of any suspicions this bug might create. While I generally like the point system as a motivational tool, I also couldn’t care less about the competitive aspect and I would hate to have any ill-gotten points get in the way of my pro membership and my usually extremely rewarding learning experience with the app (iOS by the way). Any help or consideration of the problem would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance
Well that’s at least 2 of us.
Anyone on here know how we make sure our voices are heard with the Memrise company?
Take a look at this:
My OS: Apple IOS 12 Beta 5.
Today
Learned with my Mac for 20 minutes and 10 minutes with my iPhone.
a day before i was on the first place, the next day i was very supprised to see that someone done over 1 milion points over night. It’s possible. I don’t make a million in one week, learning everyday. How did he do it???
Thanks for reporting this issue and sharing screenshots. We are aware of some issues for certain users regarding the points system not working correctly, and our developers / QA team is investigating.
We hope to release a fix shortly.
I hope that.
Ahh, so the rise in loads of players suddenly having millions of points with in minutes/hours is more a glitch than players cheating then!?!
I thought memrise had been invaded by hundreds of cheaters at once, hopefully it gets fixed soon.
I’ve never heard of such a glitch. But yes it would be nice is this is fixed.
The glitch is only on the iphone and ipad with IOS11 and IOS 12 Beta
I suspect the majority is quiet about this and enjoy the bonus.
The whole notion of accumulating points as a total sum is not exactly that important for language learning. There’s plenty of more important statistics they could generate, of which most is missing. *)
*) How many new words per day, what’s the precision date over time, how many times you need to re-learn words…
You’re right. You can not buy anything with the points.
Totally agree.
I only highlighted it because I didn’t want anyone thinking I was doing anything dodgy.
I couldn’t careless about points.
I have the same problem.
I supposedly learned 252 hours in the last week (a week has only 168 hours) and gained 8 million points (or 8,7 million in the last month).
In reality it had to be less than half a million points and about 12-15 hours.
I think the phenomenon/bug occurred on Tuesday and Wednesday (14th & 15th of August)
These are the two bluest days in my memrise statistics calendar.
