Free workshop on LARA in Europe: relevant for school teachers who teach language

We are developing a learning second language through reading app - LARA. The idea is that developing content for language teachers should be simple. The methods are open source. Nonetheless, we are holding a workshop under EU auspices for people to learn how to develop content for it. Airfares within Europe, accommodation and a small meal allowance will be paid for those selected. It is 3 days at the end of November.

We are looking for dedicated language teachers for whom developing content for learning through reading (with audio) would be interesting. We don’t yet support mobiles or browsers other than Chrome, so please take that into account.

Hi Gregory. Things are progressing! We have a great selection of endangered/minority/Indigeous languages being developed with LARA now. Early days but: Old Norce, Icelandic Sign Language, Irish, Barngarla which is an Australian Aboriginal language being revived. A new project for West Greenlandic about to start. Obviously LARA is good for main languages too, but it’s exciting that it is such a useful tool for languages who don’t get mainstream development attention. Our content page to date is here.
