After some updates some months ago, i cannot open the app anymore. it always says memrise has stopped. so annoying. i tried to clear data, uninstall and reinstall, remove my sd card and insert it, factory reset. But the problem is still there. i also tried to downgrade to solve the issue, but he problem continues. i tried to ask the assistant from the memrise corp by email, but it doesnt help. I really need help because i love the app. but sadly, the app doesnt love me back anymore. hope anyone can help me.
I am not a Memrise staff member or envoled with Android development, but my general question is:
What Android version are you running on your mobile?
And what mobile (for any vendor related Android known stuff)?
The Memrise app version may depend on the API of the Android OS.
There was e.g a thread on the DuoLingo discussion forums, that the later DuoLingo app versions (updated + released regularly) stopped on very old Android 2.3.x mobile systems.
You may need to check the spec of the app version on the apk archives (google: android apk memrise) and what Android OS that one version is compatible with (e.g Android 4.1, 4.1.1++).
Memrise version 2.9_3939_memrise release notes:
• Require: Android 4.1 and up
(Very) older app versions, which you could find in the apk archives (please be careful to find/install a apk file without any virus/trojans from a reliable source!) may be compatible with older Android mobile systems.
Sorry, I am not running Memrise on a Smartphone myself.
You could try on Android emulators like Bluestacks and see if it the Memrise app works there.
As mentioned already by Thomas, it would be great if you can provide your android version and the name of device you’re using.
I’m using Android 4.4.2 Kitkat. Im using the app since about for almost 3 years. But the app suddenly stop. I tried all ways but i dont know the problem is.
I’m using Android 4.4.2 as well, but my app works fine (just checked). There must be some other reason. I’m not an expert, though…
I’ll need to know if the crash is due to your account or your device.
When exactly does it say “memrise has stopped”? Is it when you launch the application, or while the dashboard is loading?
If you reinstall Memrise does the application allow you to log in, or does it crash immediately when you open it?
If the application works fine and your able to access to onboarding screen (this is where your able to register and log in), could you make a new account and check if it still crashes?
