When one does classic review and types the answer, then it immediately takes it as an answer without pressing enter. It can be a fine feature, if I understand it as giving many opportunities as one wants. However, its con is that one’s answer can be accidentally correct, in the case where one’s response begins with the correct answer. So, I think it is better to require enter, even when one write the correct answer.
I think this has already been the cause of some debates on this forum. As you say, you can accidentally be correct with this feature. But on the other hand, if you have to press enter, you can accidentally be wrong because of typos. The Memrise team decided to go for auto validation. Personally, this is what I prefer, since I would be a lot more accidentally wrong than I am currently accidentally correct, and I also prefer to review less, words that I don’t know rather than having to review more, words that I already know. But I saw that this opinion is not shared by everyone here
