[Featured request] Redoing the "typing" segments to be more pleasant

I’m sorry if this has been done before, I swear I did search before making this post.

The typing “exercices” are honestly a pain to go through because of the layout.

I’d suggest either:

  • showing a qwerty/azerty/etc keyboard variant, and being able to write a tone by long-pressing a letter.
  • using your own keyboard with the number system for tones. e.g. writing “wo3 de mao1”.

I think both proposals would be a lot more intuitive and fast than the disorganised letters.

And while we’re at it, it would be really, really nice to have the option to right back in hanzi directly. I understand this won’t test for tones, but I think in general we should be “replying” in hanzi more often as this is how we will be using the language.

谢谢您! I’m looking forward to seeing that segment upgraded a little. Take care.

Your suggestions make a lot of sense! A keyboard variant reflecting the user’s language layout or incorporating tone input through long-pressing would enhance the typing experience. Similarly, using a number system for tones or directly writing in hanzi could offer a more intuitive and efficient way to practice. Responding in hanzi is indeed valuable for real-world language use. These improvements could streamline the learning process and align with practical language application. Your insights contribute to a more user-friendly and effective platform
