[Feature Request] Disable auto-detect on the web version (disable automatically answering)

On the web version, when typing an answer, once the correct answer is typed then it’s accepted without pressing enter. This allows me to guess at the correct answer by trying one thing, and then if it’s not automatically recognized as the right answer, deleting it and typing something else. On the Android App I can turn this off by turning off the “Auto detect” option. Please add the option to turn this off for the web version as well.

thanks

Hi @aaron13100

Hey @Thomas.Heiss, thanks for your message. I found your script after I started this topic. It works great. Thanks for making it.

Ehre dem wem Ehre gebührt.
Honor to those who actually deserve it.

It’s not my userscript.
I just had the pleasure to be able to link it from the owner / programmer as a regular forum user.

The JavaScript or whatever API Memrise stuff is called is quite tricky, even for me being able to read some C code and write Java (not JavaScript) as a JEE backend developer.

Sorry to say, but I had not the nerves to get started yet and to be honest, I even have no clue how to inspect the API on-the-fly to maybe get my fingers into it.

Actually, I would have some (great) ideas and the requirements so I could start reviewing my Portuguese BR Basic/1-5 Memrise courses with huge backlogs again, but even small custom changes to Cooljingle’s other scripts are currently out of my scope :frowning:

Glad that you found it.

Thank you for this nice new saying – my phrase of the day.

But also the sentiment. We all know how much it sucks when people take credit for your work. Personally, I always just hope those people’ll get their comeuppance when they can’t answer questions about something they allegedly wrote, lol.

Also, don’t even try to look any deeper into Memrise’s site. It’s a nest of writhing snakes ready to rip your face off. Even more than Facebook is (and really, that’s saying something). Apparently, leaving all sorts of wonk in is good practice these days. (Sometimes, I suspect they stopped paying their developers… and this is the passive-aggressive result.)

In that case I can’t just leave it at that - the saying is actually Ehre wem Ehre gebührt. Thomas probably simply typed too quickly. :slightly_smiling_face:

Autsch.
Hast mich erwischt Olaf!

My pleasure!

BTW: instead of using the HTML <strike>blabla</strike> tag you can indicate something as corrected by using the <del>blabla</del> tag. For instance: something corrected.
Some more (albeit incomplete) info regarding formats with discourse can be found here.
