Extremely slow progression in learning words

Any time I start a learning session, it takes around 6 learning sessions in order for the words to be learned. That’s 6 learning sessions, where each word is included in the session three times (or twice, or once, if it’s the last two sessions or so) so it takes around 15 or so correct answers for each word before the word is considered learned. This is happening on multiple courses that previously didn’t have this issue.

  • Memrise Username: Deco1546
  • iPhone 11 - iOS 14.0.1 (I also had the problem on 13.7 before updating)
  • I first noticing it occurring maybe two days ago. Not sure 100% but 2 days seems right considering that was the date of the last Memrise update.
  • It happens every time I try to learn new words

Same problem with Portuguese, ever since the latest update, I ues an I phone

Also the new words learned now always is zero, only since update

Hi all,

Thanks for reporting this. Our devs and QA team are looking into this and we’ll release a fix asap. I’ll update this thread once I have more information.

+1 same issue. I can’t learn any new words – every time I get a new word correct, no progress on the blooming flower is registered.

I hope you guys provide a fix soon, otherwise the forum will get swamped with postings about the problem …

Hi all, we’ve released a fix for this with the latest update. Please install the last version from App Store and let us know if you keep experiencing any problems. :slight_smile:

I have just updated to version 3.2.11.25715 and that seems to have fixed the issue.

I did a sync with app store and my iOS Memrise app is still on 3.2.10.25581, does it require iOS 14? If so it would be good to have this fixed for 13.x users, too.

Not sure but I doubt it. My iPad is running iOS 12.4.8. Do the app updates reach all countries at the same time or could there be a delay?

You should still be able to update your app even if you have not upgraded to iOS 14 :slight_smile:
Can you please try updating via the app store again? The new Memrise version is 3.2.11.

I just updated the app but I am still having the same issue with not learning any new words. To boot Memrise UI has been very slow lately.
Hope this gets fixed soon! :slight_smile:

I did a force of update of the app to get 3.11. Looks like the iOS app store automatic updates are days behind actual updates…

Hi all,

Yes, it seems for some the update isn’t coming through automatically. We’d recommend deleting the Memrise app completely and re-downloading it from the app store.
