Exact answer: $ ...Wrong! MEM rejects answers with $ _ symbols

Hi,
This should be interesting to anyone who wants to use memrise to teach a computer programming or a computer science course.

I’ve built a course to teach myself the widely implemented but very intimidating command line interface, VIM. Answers must be able to be given as various symbols such as dollar sign and underscore among the range of others on the standard keyboard ($ _).

Whenever I answer, correctly, “g_” or “$”. The answer is rejected DURING THE QUIZ.
BUT
When, in practice/learn mode, I am told simply to repeat the answer given above, The symbols are accepted.

Please help. Thank you.
AV

Do you have the “strict typing” option set on the column that has the vi commands, in your course database?

I think this is one of the rare cases where you really do want strict typing, but most of us never use it, so if there’s a bug with strict mode we may not be aware of it. However, if you don’t have strict enabled, you should probably enable it, and it may fix your problem.
