Hello everyone, I want to report that the verb ‘‘to like’’ is wrongly translated as ‘‘amare’’ which in italian means ‘‘to love’’.
I would like someone of the staff to correct the mistake and change it to ‘‘piacere’’, which is the right translation of ‘‘to like’’.

Yes, it literally means to make a friendship.
But it might mean that collequially.
It means the same thing in italian, you can use ‘‘to love’’ or ‘‘to like’’ the same way in italian, the problem is that for new learners that might confuse them.
You can say ‘‘amo il pesce’’ (I love fish) the same way you can say ‘‘mi piace il pesce’’ (I love fish).
But if you like to use words in a philosophical context, it’s not good to think of verbs like ‘‘to like’’ as a synonim of ‘‘to love’’.
In my opinion is wrong to translate things like that, of course many learners will know what love actually means because is a famous word but it’s not this the issue.
I’ve notice that the memrise staff are more attentive on the english courses and in my opinion it’s disrespetful for the pleople who actually enjoy this platform and support it.
