It is impossible to download large courses. My internet connection at the university is quite stable (iOS 12.1.4, Memrise 2.4.3.11182, iPad (2018) 128 GB).

This is a known problem and has been confirmed by Memrise. I have even come across a FAQ or help page, but I can’t seem to find it now.

This has been going on since last year and there is no official reply about it @OliviaZavala can we expect a fix soon? This is the only reason im currently paying a subscription and its a shame its not working

My personal experience on my Android phone is that it is possible to download some large courses (5000 words+ with audio) and not others but requires many attempts.

However when I recently got a brand new Android tablet with literally Memrise being the only thing loaded on it I was able to download all courses first time with no issues at all. I would also make sure when downloading that you kill all other apps and background notifications and make sure nothing else is accessing the internet connection (this of course shouldn’t be necessary but definitely made a difference when downloading on my Android phone).

Thanks for your feedback. This is enlightening.
Would the whole course-download-problem be a resource issue? Something like running out of memory? So, basically a resource-management problem where the Memrise app takes up to much memory in some cases?

I doubt it is a resource issue. The Android phone where I have problems downloading has 6GB ram and 128GB storage, this is a lot more than the new Android tablet I bought (2GB ram and 32GB storage) which has no issues.

New design, but still no fix.

Ok thanks @Feneis. I’ve created a ticket for our iOS team to look into this.
Looking at the backlog of work it may be some time before we get around to improving offline mode but it will be there for the launch of the Decks mobile app at the latest

Hello

Same issue here.
IOS 12.4 on iPhone 5S. All courses with 5000 items fail to download.
[5000 German Words (top 87%)]
[5000 most frequent Italian Words ♫ Audio]
[5000 Most Common French Words]

Sometimes crashes Memrise completely, sometimes gives me the exact same error that was attached here earlier by [Feneis].

Can you guys please fix this? This is the main reason I wanted the Subscription.

I can see the same on Android forum and the topic has been there for quite a while. I guess it is more about how the App works with the data transfer rather than the IOS or Android?

Do you have any estimation for the fix?

I am on iPhone 8 iOS 12.3.1 with over 42GB storage free on my phone, I’m trying to download a course with only 1250 words and still getting ‘download problem’.

Other courses (including one at 1000 words) downloading fine. What’s going on?

I paid to learn offline but now I can not download even small course. So frustruate :frowning:
The “crash notification” is always “Please check your network connection
”, but my network obliviously has no problems as I can download other things easily

I am having the same problem trying to download large course (JLPT N3 Vocab, for example). It’s really frustrating, I want to be able to study on long commutes when I don’t necessarily have wifi, and this is making it impossible. Memrise team, please do something about this!

I try so many things already: reinstall the app, reset the phone, try to download again and again for 1 hour, set date to one day faster,
 literally any solutions I found on the forum but NOTHING WORKED. Can’t get refund now but I am going to unscribe :rage:

Turn your phone into wifi hotspt to solve the problem without major problems and it will be solved in minutes. The hassle free solution to everything we have on our web related to wifi, router and ip address.
