Try Forvo. I find it very good.
Hi, the easiest way to add audio to your course would be to use this free Chrome extension:
You’ll then be able to add audio level by level, automatically.
About one item in 50 will probably sound weird, in which case just delete that particular item’s audio clip and upload a replacement audio clip using:
thank you, very much.
I try your way
If you’re just starting the process of making a course, to save time typing the English words you might be able to find a similar course by, for example, looking through:
*Memrise - Courses for English speakers
*Memrise - Courses for Persian speakers
You could then generate a text file (suitable for pasting into a spreadsheet) from an existing course using tech189’s Memrise Scraper tool:
Memrise Scraper - tech189’s Website
I just tried the Memrise Audio Uploader; however, it is not working for me. In the Chrome extension page I saw that the screenshots display the option for users to select a language to get the audio for, however all I see is the upload audios button
I tried clicking on it and as it goes through the pending list all I get is an error
I think that the Chrome extension automatically selects a language, when you open a level for editing (using the Google Chrome browser). The language it selects is the language on the left side, i.e. the one the user is learning.
I just deleted all the audio clips in this small test course (German for English speakers) and then uploaded new audio successfully by clicking on the “Upload audios” button and everything worked O.K.
What language are you trying to get audio for? Maybe it’s not on the list of ~50 languages the Chrome extension will process?
Makes sense now, my course contains German Pokemon names so perhaps it just isn’t detecting it as German. Looks like I have to continue putting them in manually.
One thing to try - in edit course/details.
At the foot of the page, make sure you’ve selected German for XXX speakers.
The extension could be picking up the target language from there, I’m guessing.
Thanks for the tip, however, I already had it selected on German.
To confirm, I just played around with my small test course, and it won’t upload audio clips if the language selected in course edit/details box is detected as being different from the language in the target language vocabulary list.
So I think you’re stuck with manually uploading clips.
thank you Fronika, very good.
Oh, you are professional.
I already was analysis longman 3000 englosh for persian. all courses contain wrongs.
so, I decide to create a new course, a perfect course.
if for creating a course, you have tips, I like to read. thank you.
I always use a spreadsheets to develop Memrise courses, and use “bulk add” to load up levels. This YouTube video contains some good ideas:
thank you, I watch and learn add bulk by excel.
question: how i learn about “attribute and add column”?
I want to create columns:
Hey, does this extension work OK with phrases?
In my experience, yes.
A few weeks ago, I used the extension for uploading all the audio for this course (which includes many short phrases):
Hi @miladqomuni , #1 through #4 should happen by default. So they should automatically be set up.
But #5 and #6 would be additional columns that you would need to set up before uploading any items.
It’s been many years since I have added additional columns to a course, and I forget what’s required to do this.
Maybe someone with recent experience of doing this may see this thread and be able to help you?
Hi @MemriseSupport, do you have any documentation that explains (for course creators) how to add additional columns to a course?
Hi, I don’t know if that’s an option.
