I’m using both mobile and web interfaces… I feel like the app is throwing too many new words for me to follow. I’m wondering if I need to initiate the review manually or if the app, from time to time, throws a review at me like it does with the different lesson types (pronunciation, videos from locals, etc).
The words that Memrise places on your review list are calculated according to the Spaced Repetition System (SRS). However, you can always just click/tap the Review button to repeat words. You can also navigate to a certain level and then hit the Review button to restrict the review to the words of that certain level.
And you can of course hit the Speed Review button to do a random (not all too sure about the random!) review across all words or the said level.
