I enjoyed starting the “625 German Words” memrise course, but started to slowly find that the course had a few errors or poor choice of translations.
Is anyone able to contact the user “dslusf” who created this course in order to send him the corrections?
If not is there any other means of updating the course?
I have noticed that in many cases the translation was not the commonly word used, for example :
. der Laster instead of der Lastwagen
. der Sessel instead of del Stuhl
. das Schwimmbecken instead of das Schwimmbad
. der Stab ?? instead of simply die Bar
etc.
It should be Schwimmerbecken. Not sure why those are poor choice words. They are all pretty common, and I hear Stab and Stange more than ‘‘die Bar’’. and Stecken is pretty common in south Germany. But you did not paste the english translations.

I think these words are all very common in Germany.
Level 14 Home 1:
der Sessel is tranlated as der Stuhl. I think Sessel is an armchair.
Level 3 locations:
der Stab is not a location.
Die Bar is a location. So Bar means here nightclub, pub …

Even though some words can be used regionally, isn’t ideal to translate with the most commonly used word in German?
I’ve always used das Schwimmbad for Swimming pool. The Sessel is apparently used in Austria but the most common name for chair should be Stuhl right?
Is there a dictionary that translates bar -> Stab rather than die Bar ?

I see your point in your examples - but in my opinion (native speaker of German) Schwimmbecken is maybe better than Schwimmbad. The Schwimmbad is rather the whole building with showers, changing room etc. whereas the Schwimmbecken is the actual pool.
Sessel is used for chair in Österreich and he obviously has a different bar in mind. and Laster is colloquial, and not a bad idea to learn. Maybe the creator is from Austria.
if the chair has arms, and is generally comfy looking, Sessel is perfectly fine and is not by all means rare in germany to use. Despite it being more general for chair in Austira. You can say Hocker for an actual stool.

I never said Austrians don’t know what Stuhl is. All Austrians know Hochdeutsch, and if anything, it would be the Germans that would not know Österreiches. Or at least some things in it.

The truck = der LKW (Lastkraftwagen), der Laster, der Lastwagen - these are all words used for truck in Germany
The chair = der Stuhl would be the “classic” translation, as “der Sessel” is usually used to refer to furniture found in living rooms, although you do get the combination “der Chefsessel”.
“The pool” is a poor choice for the English section of the course, to be honest, and it would be better if it said, “the swimming pool” if the translation “der Schwimmbecken” has been given.
“The bar” would be translated as “die Bar” if it means a place you can drink at, but “a bar” can be so many different things that it really needs to be defined more closely to make it clear which meaning is being referred to. There are gold bars - Goldbarren - for example, to name just one that comes to mind.
Thank you all for your answers. The “bar” which is given in the course is part of the places/locations section, so the translation should be die Bar.
I’m going to contact “lien” so that she he/she puts me in touch with dslusf. I will recommend then changing the bar and the chair translations.
