When typing diacritics from the letters provided in the iOS app for Lushootseed and probably many other languages, the diacritics float from letter to letter instead of staying on the letter where typed.
For example when typing č̓ač̓as, the ejective mark (the mark that looks like an apostrophe) moves to the “a” instead of staying on the “c”.
I got a response from Memrise three months ago saying they are working on it. Does anyone know if progress is being made on this or if there is a good solution for this?
I’ve had this issue with some of my French courses as some french letters have accents like " é " and the time you start to type the word the accent would move. The only way I managed to fix it was to retype the words where I had this issue.
It seems that in some cases (and I still do not know for what reason) the letters with accents (or diacritics) are “encoded” not as a single letter but as a separate latin letter and a separate accent, because while editing when I once hit the backspace button next to it only the accent would disappear but not the letter itself. Actually that is why I usually do the “backspace check” when I copy such words from other sources and not type them in manually.
The same thing actually happens when I try to delete the letter č̓ from your post. So I guess it is the same issue.
