Course User profiles / `Mempals` and user privacy concerns

Hello all. I have searched for this but can’t seem to find the answer so apologies if it’s already been covered.

I work in an environment that necessitates the privacy of students personal information, including full names.

I am creating a course for students and am worried about the social media aspect of memrise / ‘mempals’.

My question is : Is it possible for users to access the course and its contents anonymously, and without the potential for them to ‘meet’ / interact online? For example, can one switch the leader board off?

If students are able to ‘see’ each other as participants then I am afraid I am not able to use the platform, as good as it is.

I hope my question is clear and thank you all in advance for your help.

Can you randomly assign user names that will be un-identifiable? Nobody will know that user HB-254-X7 is really classmate Suzy Jones, even as they see her at the top of the leader board and try to beat her score. Of course Suzy might choose to reveal her user name to her classmates, but that isn’t the same as the teacher violating the students’ privacy.

Thanks for your input. Yes, I believe that this is what some teachers do with other platfoms such as socrates.
