Yes, both are correct. However the system at the moment does not allow for all kinds of alternative answers, if you use the app you will get the buttons with the words “me” and “puede” and there’ll be no confusion, but I assume you are using the web. I will add the alternative answer for that one anyway, so that it will be accepted.

There is no way to consciously pick the right answer without audio and no way to turn off audio mode (no speaker icon)
Hi, I’ve found a bug in Spanish (Spain) 5,
Level 14 “… But Not Anymore”
In a video question, a girl says"mis abuelos fueron a África cuando eran jóvenes", but none of the proposed answers match.
The first time I got that question the fourth answer included “felices para siempre”; the second time the proposed answers were
"1. el vuelo se ha retrasado
2. solíamos vivir en el extranjero
3. quiere viajar por el mundo
4. la crema para el sol "
The line she actually says appears in other questions in the same series.
The answer that does get accepted seems to be “solíamos vivir en el extranjero”.

Thanks for your question. As you can see from that example, Spanish often uses the present tense to refer to an action that will take place in the future: “Mañana vamos al cine”, “nos vemos luego”. Unfortunately in this case “hablaremos más tarde” would not work as it would give a different meaning, sounds like you are telling someone that you and a third person will speak later. Does it make sense?

It was just that I had previously learned that one (incorrectly as I now understand) in Level 65 of A1 Spanish http://www.memrise.com/course/618832/a1-spanish/65/?action=prev. I have ‘ignored’ that entry now.

I’ve noticed a slight inconsistency in the way masculine/feminine answers are tolerated:
words denoting persons are taught as [masculine; feminine] forms together, but in typing questions giving only the first is almost always accepted, which is a boon for speed. However this doesn’t seem to be the case for e.g. “el demócrata; la demócrata”, “el político; la política” in Spanish 5 or “el ladrón; la ladróna” in Spanish 6. Might be because I typed them without the accents (though that too has otherwise been tolerated everywhere)?
Also, for “mine” only the masculine “mio” is accepted, not “mia”, though that could be intentional.

Hi @autismal! I think they have not added all the alternativas yet. It takes time. It is much better now than last summer.
I totally understand you. For example “algún; alguna”…when I type alguna (then I don’t have tu click on the accented u and it is quicker) it marks me wrong
About accents, I think that they are very important (at least in Spain Spanish ) because same words with and without accents mean different things
Spanish 3: For “¿me trae la cuenta, por favor?”, would it be acceptable to say “¿traeme la cuenta, por favor?”. And if it is, could you please add it as an alternative (invisible) answer?

No, that is not correct.

Another possible mistake I’ve noticed is in Spanish 2, Section 2, where the Spanish is “Que Quieren Comer”. This is translated as “What would you like to eat”. The correct translation should be “what would they like to eat?”

It is actually correct, since quieren is also the second person plural formal form of the verb querer.

Actually it is totally correct. If you want to be polite and there is more
than 1 person you use 3rd person plural (the same form you use with they.
You can think this as “their majestys”
If there is only 1 person and you want to be polite use 3rd person singular
"does your majesty want"

The app is crashing for me landscape or portrait mode for first contact every time I try to open Spanish 1 (Spain) for US speakers. That’s in both beta and regular app, even after iPad reboot.
As a side note it would be nice to quickly find new content esp videos as they come out. I’ve basically completed most of the seven levels to get at the videos. Even for pro members it seems complicated. I might be mistaken but I think you have to complete a few words in each section and have no review in that section before videos of that section unlock. All that should probably go away. Perhaps pro members should be able to open a new course hit the natives button in any section and immediately watch those videos.
Please explain why ¿traeme la cuenta, por favor? is incorrect.
