G’day Neal,

Hope all’s well. In the epsilon level, you’ve got ευλογαώ.

I could be wrong, but is that usually only correct without the alpha, ie, ευλογώ?

Edit: Ah, ignore that, see you’ve already got ευλογώ as an alt in the Ενεστώτας, sorry!

For λέγω, would you be able to amend the primary slightly? Something like ‘Say (II)’ or ‘Say (different version)’?

Just so that the two are differentiated. Thanks!

I’m not really sure what you’re asking me to do here.

We have λέγω in the database as primary, and the form λέω as secondary (Alt). I’m not sure why that is not sufficient. There are 2 forms, and so I’ve added “λέω, λές, λέει, λέμε, λέτε, λεν/λένε” as Alt in the Ενεστώτας. The only alternative is to add the verb separately, but I’m not sure how to best show this verb, it is peculiar in that there are two common forms/declensions.

It should be ευλογάω, not ευλογαώ - fixed. But, also note that ευλογώ is the Alt as well.

Hello again Neal, I’ve got a query and a request for you.

First up, could you somehow differentiate the primary definitions (or cross-alt) for πάω and πηγαίνω?

In learning (and when reviewing), I kept on getting marked incorrectly for entering the wrong ‘Go’. Thanks!

Edit: Same also for μελετάω and σπουδάζω.

Secondly, a while back, you helpfully explained about -άω and -ώ endings in first-person present-tense verbs, ie, it’s essentially just a stylistic difference and that both forms are valid.

For such words, I just wanted to double-check that the patterns of conjugation across the three tenses are the same regardless?

For example, if we have ρωτώ/ρωτάω, all other 17 variants of the verb only have one way of being spelled and that the presence (or not) of the alpha only affects the first-person present?

I’ve had a quick look through An Essential Grammar but couldn’t find the answer (if it is in there).

Both are done (cross-Alt’d), although I’m still thinking about μελετάω/σπουδάζω. They both mean study but they are not equivalent. σπουδάζω means to study at a university (for example) or to major in something or to put yourself through school. And μελετάω is study in the sense of studying for a test, researching, reading, pore over something, cramming, etc. But their primary translation is still study! So, not sure cross-Alt’ing these is appropriate.

When you’ve got a mo, if you could do something similar for αναγνωρίζω/γνωρίζω and δέχομαι/λαμβάνω, that’d be much appreciated.

OK, all changed:
αναγνωρίζω = recognize, tell, meet, identify
γνωρίζω = know, meet, recognize
δέχομαι = accept, admit, allow, receive
λαμβάνω = receive, get, take

I’ve added a lot of new verbs to this course lately. Current count is 295, up from ~180. The plan is to add about another 100 over the next couple of months.
