[Course Forum] Foods in French via Pictures! by hypermice

It’s best to learn a language without translating into your native language. This course is only pictures and French. Audio is included for all entries. If you have no idea what it is, English can be found under “more” on each word. You can also “ignore” words you do not know or like. Thanks for doing my course! =)

I just started using this course. It’s nice and there are a couple of things. You have to use small case letters at the beginning. An upper case letter La vs la is wrong.
I really like the effort you put in for audio.

You mean for the headers like “Les fruits”? If I was doing it in English I would have “The Fruits” so I didn’t think that was wrong?

I am working on cutting up the audio for the rest of this one, and adding the rest of the pictures. It will be complete soon! The protein section has pictures now =)

Alright I got a TON done today! I added all the audio for fruits & veggies that were missing, and all the pictures and audio for proteins, grains, and deserts. A few in deserts do not have audio because I added them today, I put out a new audio request for the missing things up to that point. I will hopefully get to the last 2 sections in the next week or so.

The ones without pictures I actually deleted off the database and re-added so if they were previously ignored they are not anymore. All learning progress would also have been deleted, but seeing as how its not possible to learn them without the pictures, I don’t think that was a problem. No progress should have seen changed for already learned words, but some old ones got an audio addition which might be a bit weird to get used to.

Thanks to @Seltie for making me get back on here and fix it up. =)

@hypermice, I really appreciate all your efforts. I’ll get back onto the fruits and vegies ones now and continue with the verb conjugations - which I think is the best French verbs course around. Merci beaucoup!

Thank you @hypermice for this fun course, I really enjoy taking it, and look forward to getting back to it asap! Many thanks again on your quick response in amending the broken links

My iPad automatically capitalizes the first letter of the word group or sentence so I have to change it to small case. Not a big problem but it was there.
I think both of your courses I’m taking are very helpful for me. Thank you!

@Soupcatcher ~ You might want to check your settings for this in your iPad by going to Settings/General/Keyboard/Auto-Capitalization. Maybe you need to toggle it off.

@Soupcatcher I understand what you were saying now, it marks as incorrect when you capitalize? That is because it is on Strict Typing. The reason behind that is accents are important to learn, and it is the only way I can require them. It has some unfortunate side effects, like being picky about capitalization. If the solution @pdao gave doesn’t work let me know and I can add each capitalized version to the accepted answers.

I have finished with the updates for this course! Feel free to make suggestions for more things to add. For now, I am going to get back to work on doing the audio for my verbs course. While I was gone that seems to have gotten extremely popular. I really just made it for myself because I was struggling with all the verb conjugations, I am so glad everyone else likes it too!

If you add a link to the course in your opening post, it may lead some more learners there…

Quick note for @hypermice: I think that “la crème fresh” is in fact “single cream” in EN. At least the I bought from the stores in London was
