Is “centre” the Portuguese translation of “Centro”?

Furthermore, is “theatre” the Portuguese translation of “Teatro”?

And finally, would not the translation of “Centro da cidade” as “downtown” be better than “City of Centre”.

These words are present in the English #3 by Memrise.

I don’t speak BE (British English), but I would rather translate it as “a city centre”. “City of Centre” sounds unnatural for me. “Downtown” is correct, but it’s used in AmE (American English), which means it’s not a good translation.
