[Course Forum] ! Deutsch - warum nicht? (Serie 1) by neal.p.carey

Deutsch - warum nicht? - Serie 1 is based on that of the same name by Deutsche Welle (and Goethe-Institut).

Each of the 4 series consists of 26 levels.

Over the 4 series the course covers levels A1-B1 of the Common European Framework, aimed at beginning and intermediate learners. The levels follow the corresponding unit numbers in the course. See also (http://www.dw.de/learn-german/deutsch-warum-nicht/s-2548).

If you are unfamiliar with the alphabet and numbers in German, do the Appendices first - Levels 27-28-29.

The singer that you’ve put as “Klaus Hoffman” in lvl 1 needs an extra N, i.e. he’s Hoffmann. (A fairly safe bet with all the -mann last names.)

OK, thanks. Correction made.

Hi,

Just start to learn this series today. Thank you for your detailed course. I would like to add some more words as I go through the excercise (eg. Lesson 2 mentioned some extra words e.g. Taxifahrt = taxi ride … see appendix 4) Would you mind adding me as contributor to your course or should I send you the extra words here?

Lektion 2 list of words:
Taxifahrt, taxi ride (die Fahrt, the ride)
Fototasche, camera case (die Tasche, the case)
Nikon, Nikon
die Kamera, camera

OK, I’ve added all but Nikon, as it is not a German word. I did submit it to Forvo where there also was not a German pronunciation for it. Also, there is no pronunciation for die Fotoasche (which I also submitted at Forvo and if someone is kind enough to pronounce it I’ll add it here.

Glad you like it. I have not had many comments here, but I’m glad to help where I can.

Thank you for your fast reply and for your help trying to get the pronunciations for the words. May I ask you to correct the speling for FotoTasche (it is missing the T at the moment).

Thanks again for your help.

Corrected - and the audio has now been added. I should always be suspicious when a German pronunciation is not in Forvo

Can we add these for lession 8 please  I suspect I may keep you busy for a while :hugs:

Der Gast, guest
Ein Gast, a guest
Der hotelgast, hotel guest
Junge Frau, young woman

Thank you

and for Lession 9
Weiter!, go on
Er weiĂź ja Dr ThĂĽrmann, His name is after all Dr ThĂĽrmann
Ich arbeite als Portier, I work as a porter
Woher kommst er?, Where does he come from?
Moment!, just a moment!
Wie ist dein Vorname?, What is your firstname?
Die Studentin studiert in Augsburg, the (female) student studies in Augsburg
Andreas ist Portier im Hotel Europa, Andreas is a porter at Hotel Europa

Added, except for Ein Gast. Der Gast covers the word guest sufficiently for this type of course I believe.

I’ve added these, BUT they will not have audio. They were not part of the original course from where the audio comes, and Forvo does not support the download of phrases. You can certainly submit them to Forvo should you wish. FWIW “Woher kommst er?” is only a slight variation of “Woher kommst du?” which is already in the course somewhere.

I can only really add things if they add value to the course. So, I’d suggest that you review the various levels before submitting too many of these additions to ensure they aren’t already in there.

Thank you.

The reason I ask for some of them to be added is to highlight various aspect (eg. article and how they are different from masculine vs feminine, or in/aus with various verb). Granted audio wont be available for these but if you think it doesnt add much into the course, I wont request these anymore.

I always double check with previous lessons to make sure I havent duplicate for the current level. But I havent checked the lessons after the current one, I’ll keep this in mind ;).

Let me know if you think these extra notes from the exercise doesnt add much value to the course. Thanks again for your help.
