I think that the Faroese nouns and need to have some inflection information somewhere, since the inflections are not predictable from the nominative form alone. For example: hundur “dog” › hundar “dogs”, hunds “dog’s”—vegur “way” › vegir “ways”, vegar “way’s”. I am not good with memrise course creation but I think there is a section where you can add information which pops up whenever you answer correctly, and I would suggest placing a section like (gen -s, nom plur -ar) for example, to aid in the proper learning. Maybe the course creator will see this, if so, please consider adding this.
I think this is the course:
miranda.metheny does not seem to be on these forums yet. @MemriseMatty or @Lien, could you invite her, please, and point her to this thread?
Thanks, I have emailed the course creator and invited her to this thread. Hopefully she can join us here soon!
Hi! I just found out about these forums. Thanks for reaching out and I hope you’ve found the course helpful. It would be nice to add more grammatical information to the words. It’s just a matter of finding the time. I haven’t even put all the words that I want to in the course yet. Hopefully I’ll have a bit of time this summer to add some things.
I also have this course (even more unfinished) which teaches you more about how to decline/bend the nouns: https://www.memrise.com/course/209194/faroese-nouns/
There’s one for verbs too.
Hi Miranda! I understand that time is an issue. However if you maybe find some other dedicated users of the course, add them as contributors, and ask them to fill the info out to their best ability, it could get done quicker.
If someone is volunteering, I would consider their request. But I want to be sure of consistency, a reasonable degree of accuracy, and so on. I don’t feel like I can ask more from the native speaker team.
