Hi I have a quick question. When using por un lado/ por una parte, does it matter which one I use in a sentence, or can you differentiate them by masculine/feminine etc ?

Thanks

Hi Poppy,

I think you can use either, in pretty much any context.

Both are fixed phrases that mean the same thing (“on the one hand”), and it doesn’t matter whether any subsequent nouns are masculine or feminine.

The example sentences in this online dictionary may give you a clear idea about how these phrases work:

Thank you, that’s really helpful!
