[Course Forum] 6000+ Swedish Vocabulary Words (First Half) - new course forum!

@amanda-norrsken
There is no other entry with just “häftig”.
I vote for adding “häftig” the way you suggested, but also to keep “häftigt” and change the definition to “cool, awesome” and say that it’s an exclamation. Because that is how you can use it as well.
"- Jag såg ett flygplan som gjorde en loop."
"- Häftigt!"

If you add a new one, amanda-norrsken, tell me and I’ll add audio,

As it is not my course, I would not feel comfortable about adding a new word to it. But I think changing the definition of “häftigt” in the way you have suggested is a good idea.

A while ago, I read a book called “Saknad” by Karin Alvtegen, a really really good crime book (but more than just a crime book, really). One of the characters - a teenager - used the word “häftigt” in exactly that way

this is all i got:

According to Folkuniversitet they use the following literature for their TISUS preparation course:

Testa läs och hör (Gentzel m fl, Bonniers, 2000). “Sverige’s radio P1
is on the same listening level as this book. So I recommend going to
their website and listening to their radio shows.”

Avancera ord (Mathlein, Skriptor Förlag ab, 1991) - “you might need
someone to help you correct what you have written, since the book is not
really for self studies.”

Skrivtrappan (Alfredson, Folkuniversitetets förlag, 2002)

"It might be worth looking in the library for text books for gymnasiet
Svenska A and Svenska B - as the level of TISUS is around this level so
it will give you more materials to work on and even if not exactly the
same format some useful tips

You can download some nationella prov at gymnasiet level here - it also
gives you examples of how and why they have market tests as G/VG/MVG.

(but i don’t have links for that, you gotta google it and find something for yourself!)

that’s it !!!

Thank you so much, @the_young_wolf!

That is so kind of you to take time to write all this. I shall pass it on to my friend!

Hey, Anytime!

i am actually working on this “6000 swedish words” and i’m really having a hard time memorizing the words!
i have covered 324 and ignored 240 words 'cause i was familiar with those words, but here’s the problem i forget the words i have learned faster than i expect!
my daily goal is ((learning 200 words per day)) but i think it seems so hard to get there! actually i try to do my best and i don’t have that much time to spend on this course because there are other materials to cover, so … i need some super learning tips in order to be able to cover the materials!
so… let me know what you think, any methods for memorizing?any tips? any thing, please don’t hesitate to share them with me!

take care!

@the_young_wolf,

unfortunately I have no tips .But 200 words per day!
I’m amazed. I just try to learn some new words every day

@the_young_wolf

Are you making mems? Are you checking the mems which other people have made?

That is the genius of memrise: the possibility to make mems or use those of other people really helps me to remember the words I come across.

But I am always surprised when I see how few people make use of this function. How do you learn on memrise? Do you use the app or do you have a laptop or PC? I tend to use my Chromebook mostly (I had to delete the app from my phone because it is so old :frowning: but I didn’t have the feeling that I remembered things quite so well when I used the app.

I generally have several tabs open when I am memrising:

ord.se; babla; google.se, korp spraakbanken
google översätt

I like to see the words in context. If I try to remember some words out of context, that is really hard. If it is something tangible like “ett skrivbord”, then sure, I can learn that without too much trouble, but more abstract words and ideas need a context for me.

Have a look at some of the mems I have made - maybe look at the ones called “most popular” - and let me know what you think!

Personally, I find the sehiralti courses (3K, 4.5K, 6K and 8K most common words series) better for learning basic vocabulary. There are simply too many “silly” words on this course and too many words that appear more than once, so it is impossible to get them right once you have got to a certain level because you don’t know which translation they are looking for.

It isn’t jellybreadracer’s fault, it is the source material he based the course on.

Anyway, I hope this helps as a starter

actually i don’t make mems and i don’t use other mems made on the website,i don’t know how to use them!:disappointed:

i have a pc and i’ve used the app but it doesn’t work and takes a lot of time to load the content and it has functional problems, i will never use it again!

exactly! i really know what you are talking about! it happens when there are problems and flaws in meaning or pronunciation etc.

i recommend using (glosbe dictionaries)and (mymemory.translated.net). these two really work and help me get any problems solved.

that’s exactly what we need in this course, i’ve said it before and i believe that this course is awesome but there are no categorizing based on context, and if we get this one solved the course will be close to perfect.very close!

pardon me, where exactly on the website can i find these mems of yours?i just took a look and couldn’t find any!

Hi @the_young_wolf

So happy that you liked my reply! And thanks for taking the time to answer so thoroughly!

Anyway, here is a link to my profile on memrise:

http://www.memrise.com/user/amanda-norrsken/

If you see what I can see, then you should see my mems right on that page. You can also choose the most popular ones, too.

Here is a link from memrise itself which is all about “mems”:

http://feedback.memrise.com/knowledgebase/topics/77642-mems

There are various articles there that should help you to work out how the whole thing works.

Hi, in level 58 the first word is Slavar and is supposed to mean Slavs. Slaver means Slav and slavar means slaves if i am not wrong.

Hi there!

I just noticed something strange when I was doing a round of review. Sometimes, on the typing tests, the prompts include the IPA pronunciation of the answer, basically giving the answer away. I just did a round of 25 and the following prompts included the IPA pronunciation:

nothing
nerves
en [eye] pupil
a toothache
lungs
a headmaster
a nation [particularly of a country as a cultural and historical-political unit]
a pupil [student]

This may have been going on a long time, and maybe I just didn’t notice it, but now that I have, it’s hard to force myself to not see it to get the answer.

Edit: Looks like at least some of these are found in level 114 and 116.

Hi,

I have changed the words you mention so they won’t show.

To other editors:
There seem to be two pronunciation columns. The first one right after the audio column is the one to use. The second one is an attribute and will show as a hint. I have looked through pages 1-200 and 330-352 in the database and moved the ones I found that were in the wrong column.
There are a lot more words to be moved on pages 201-351. I might take a look later, but I’m having surgery in a few hours that will affect my arm, so I might not be able to do more for a while.
An alternative is, of course, to simply delete the attribute-column without moving the pronunciations and do without them for those words.

Hi,

I didn’t see this until now. I have changed this to slaver.
