I’ve posted on this topic a few times before but I wanted to air a new possibility for course contributors - if you have two entries with different “learning” language words, but the same “native” language word and there’s really no obvious way to provide an unambiguous distinction that you could reasonably expect to remember even when revising across courses, then one option is to actually add the alternative “learning” language word as an alternative under the native language word. Sounds odd, but basically I’ve done this for one course where the English “anger, rage” maps to two separate German entries “die Wut” and “der Zorn”. I’m sure somebody can come up with some smart way to distinguish those but I couldn’t and I want to make sure I still learn both terms, so for the “die Wut” entry I put “_der Zorn” as an English alternative, and for the Zorn entry, I’ve add “_die Wut” as an English alternative.
What this means is that if I type the “wrong” entry when it presents just the English clue “anger, rage”, it doesn’t mark me wrong but just says “Sorry, you typed the English word when we wanted the German” (or something to that effect).
It would be better if it said “Sorry you typed the Alternative word when we wanted the German”, but I haven’t tried creating a new column to see if that works.
