Sorry if these questions have answers already, but I have been unable to locate them.
I am considering going ‘pro’. I want to test the waters first. Meaning, try in for one month, and if I enjoy it, go for a better deal. Is it possible (or easily) changed from one type of payment to another?
I am in the first lessons of Japanese, which lists 200+ words. I am assuming there are more. Is this the case? Do you get more words by going Pro?
After perusing the forum, I noticed a number of people asking for a refund as they were having issues getting said refund. Is this a common problem, or is it more of an ‘operator issue’?
Get a one year - I heard it’s 50% off. And I believe you can get a refund in 30 days (not for monthly subscription).
I believe content is free (so not more words for PRO), but features are paid. This are the paid features: https://www.memrise.com/premium/1
I hope it’s an operator issue. They usually get a response within a day or four, and they don’t complain again, I suppose because it’s really refunded.
In my opinion, after observing the way Memrise continuously delays and/or fails to respond to repeated support requests from paying customers, I would say that you should not expect your change requests to be handled “easily.”
I’m not a pro user so I can’t be certain, but I don’t think you get more words with pro. I think it only gives you access to speed reviews, the so-called chatbots, which many users find more frustrating and annoying than useful, access to “difficult words” lists, and access to the “learn with natives” videos.
Based on what I’ve observed in the forums, I don’t think that all the customers who are having problems getting refunds are at fault, and I would not expect your refund requests to be handled promptly or easily. Memrise seem to be able to take money from their customers with ease, but for some unknown reason, they seem to have extreme difficulty responding to refund requests and actually giving their customers’ money back promptly when asked.
With pro you get additional features, personally I find those features useful so I’ve been a pro member for some time now.
Another reason I decided to pay for pro is that I want to support Memrise as a learning platform, it is not perfect but for me it is better than the alternatives I’ve tested.
Based on what I’ve seen of the refund requests here @MemriseMatty & Co handles those requests in a good way.
