I have worked on a big course for some months (and it’s not finished yet, I hope ; since now, it contains 98 levels and almost 2000 words). There are ten columns. Today, the columns’ order is suddenly completely messed !
1 / How is it possible ?
2 / Is it a way to re-arrange the columns’ order myself ?
I really hope you can help ! This course means hundreds of hours of hard work…
you could have done something when you were last on it, accidentally muddling it all up, or if you have let other people help you with the making of your course they could have done so
No one could interfere about that course (no other contributor), but maybe I have done something wrong myself, even if I don’t think it is the case because I’m a very cautious guy. The problem is I have no idea at all HOW these columns can be muddled, I meam I know no function which could deal with the columns’ order. But if there is such a function, I would be very glad to use it to restore the right order (OK, no consequence for a user of the course since it concerns the edition part, but in order to go on building this rather complex course, I really need to fix this problem).
I don’t think that you did something wrong, because there is no user interface element that you could have clicked to change column order.
I think memrise did something to their back-end database very recently that caused data corruption. I say this based on your report, and on pdao’s report last night of at least two of his courses disappearing from his profile and from the course search, then reappearing after he accessed them via direct links and reviewed items from those courses.
If my inference based on the available evidence is correct, then there is no simple step you can take to restore order to your courses, and your course’s fate is at the mercy of the memrise powers that be.
Many thanks for your analysis, xvg11. Then, wait and see what memrise can do now. It’s scary. I have spent so many hours and days for months on this work and I’m still enthusiastic to achieve it. Besides, I really need it to go on learning japanese myself…
@Olivier_A I wish you good luck with getting the problem resolved. I know how scary it is to lose something you were counting on, especially when it happens through no fault of your own.
You might try filing an official support ticket with Memrise, through their feedback link. They may be more likely to respond to your problem report there, because, for whatever reason, the technical support staff have not been responding to problem reports in the forum for the last two days, with the exception of Lien, who continues to help us graciously, whenever she is able to.
