Changing Chinese font while learning session

Is there any chance to change this curly Chinese font in the learning session? I prefer the Chinese characters to look simple.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for your query.

Could you possibly add screenshots so we could have a look?

The ones in the official Memrise courses are not curly so maybe that’s one of the user generated course that you are learning.

Best,
Yi

Hi, the problem is that using my mobile to learn on memories everything’s is fine but when I’m using my laptop the font is starting to be curly and hard to recognize. I’ve attached the screenshot.

Thanks Michael,

I got what you mean now and that’s a VERY good point actually.

Both the font in our app and that on the website wouldn’t be considered really curly to Chinese speakers but that difference might add difficulty to non-native speakers so I’ll make a note of this and see what we could do.

By the way, if you happen to be interested in Chinese fonts, please check out the below :yum:

The font in our app and that found on most of the Chinese websites are song4 ti3 (宋体) or hei1 ti3 (黑体).

song ti

heiti

The font in your screenshot above is more of a kai3 shu1 (楷书):

kaishu

A curlier one would be xing2 shu1 (行书):

xingshu

But that’s definitely not the curliest!

Best,
Yi

Thank you for your email, can i apply somehow the song ti font into memrise
course to use it instead of this basic?

Hi Michale,

For now it’s a default setting but we will look into it and update you once I hear more.

Best,
Yi
