Can't use latest iOS update - LearnableSourceError

I downloaded today’s update, v2.3.26.6599, on iOS 10.3.3. Every course I try, whether I use the Downloaded course materials, or deactivate the downloaded course and try it online, gives me this error when I try any review or New words or Difficult words:

“The operation couldn’t be completed. (Memrise.LearnableSourceError error 101.)”

I tried it with several of the official Dutch courses as well as this user-created course: Dutch - The 1,001 Most Common Words - by seeirwin - Memrise

I also did a full uninstall and reinstall of the app, and I got the same thing. I will be sending this report to their Report Bug form, but posting here for others to see as well.

I particular enjoyed the What’s New text for the update: “To update or not to update. That is the question.” I guess I know the answer to that question. In all seriousness, more helpful Changelog information in the future would be appreciated.

I have the same problem!!! And what do we have to do with it?

Are you able to install the previous version? And does that work fine?

@BeaTrisy: Is there a fix?

Hi all,
Thanks for getting in touch. Sorry to hear you’re experiencing this issue. Our development team is looking into this.
In the meantime, you can try starting a lesson from the level view?

I have the exact same problem, exact same error-message.
Tried reinstalling the app, no dice. I also submitted a bug report.

Happened after the “update”. Haven’t been able to use memrise for days.

@BeaTrisy I also cannot start a lesson from the level view.

Is there a way to downgrade to the version prior to the update?

Hello,

I encounter the same problem. I tried to desinstall and re-install the app, to no avail.

Plus, I can’t learn new elements as well.
It says “there is no element to learn in this mode. Try an other mode”.
Whereas there are still 8 words I haven’t learnt.

The issue is present in older Apple devices that are still using the 32bit processor. We’ve submitted a fix and it will be available as soon as it passes Apple review.

A masive thank you to all that reported this issue and keep an eye out for the next update.

@BeaTrisy

Thanks for getting back to us so quickly!

In the meantime, until the fix for this is available, is there any way to revert back to the working pre-updated version?

Can I delete the current, non-working version and download the older version somehow?

I don’t want to let my language-learning suffer by missing daily practice

It isn’t easy. One of the several links I found after a quick Google for “ios revert app update”:

The fix is now out. A simple update should get everything back in working order.

Happy learning

I downloaded version v2.3.28.6785, deleted and reinstalled, logged in again and I still have this bug using, for example, American Sign Language 2. Spanish (Mexico) 1 appears to work though.

@BeaTrisy, this error still happens. I’m on the latest Memrise verison (have deleted and reinstalled app), iOS 11.4 with iPhone 7s.

I notice this is with courses/levels that use images as the Question / Answer.

On new level, i.e. Learning New Words lesson, I get an error “There is nothing to learn in this game mode”
On levels I’ve started, i.e. Review lessons, I get the error LearnableSourceError

Example A course, Aleinu Demo - Memrise
Example B course, Rashi Script - Memrise

Example C course level 2, https://www.memrise.com/course/1333985/biblical-hebrew-aleinu-prayer-siddur-w-audio/

Created another post here.

I’m seeing this with some courses, as well – long-standing issue.

The same problem.

@BeaTrisy issue still persists with latest Memrise update – 2.3.30.6943. Also, I deleted and reinstalled app.

Any update? This is a blocker error for any course dependent on images as content.

Oh reinstallation of app neither helps, was going to do this. Sounds like something they really need to fix now as there’s no workaround.

Many Thanks - I have asked the iOS and QA teams to re-open this case to investigate. Hope to have some answers shortly.
