Cant login with google

why cant you do this on the app? unable to access my account and continue studying with the app.

anyone know why this is?

Using Memrise at school, some of my students face the same difficulty. They used their Google account to log into Memrise on a computer first. On their iOS phones, however, there is no possibility offered to log in with Google, just using E-Mail/Username or Facebook. While it is no surprise that the latter doesn’t work, also logging in with their Username/Pw doesn’t work. Has anyone found a solution to that? A solution would be very much appreciated! Thanks! :slight_smile:

Hey @Prodigy37 and @Sarinda

We’re currently working into bringing Google Log-In to iOS in the next couple of weeks.
In the meantime, if you want to access your account using a iPhone you’ll have to:

  1. log in on the web
  2. Go to https://www.memrise.com/settings/ and set up a passwork do your account
  3. Log in on your iPhone with your Username and your new password.

Thank you very much for your fast reply! I’ll let my kids know! One additional question, though: Will they be able to log in with their Google accounts using a computer then or will they always have to use their username and password? They tend to mess up in such cases, unfortunately… :wink:

They’ll still be able to use their google accounts on the computer.

@BeaTrisy, when you say “their username”, do you mean their Google Account email address or the username that gets automatically generated for them when they login view their Google Account?

I’m not sure how this works when one registers through Google, but I’ve seen people who registered through Weibo, and they ended up with very strange usernames.

Hi @BeaTrisy,

it has taken a while now to test the suggested procedure. Unfortunately, it does not work because the “old” password is not accepted. I was not with them when they tried; could it be that they have to leave the old password field blank? Other suggestions? Thanks in advance once more! :slight_smile:

Hi @Sarinda

If you download the latest update, we’ve added the option to sign in with your Google account.
If that does not work you can try resetting your password, you can find the instructions here: http://feedback.memrise.com/knowledgebase/articles/621783-sign-in-register-or-forgot-password-android
Let me know if that works.

Do not log out and back in, with Google account, or your own password. You will lose all course progress status.
